| Religious buildings are of special interest to the firm. We have completed a variety of projects including new buildings, additions and improvement to existing facilities. Each project is developed around the individual needs and liturgical principles of the congregation. Our firm provides a variety of services to congregations looking to sustain their facilities. The congregation of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Kinkora engaged our firm over a 10 year period to ensure the future health and stability of their beautiful church. The project began with a building condition study in 1998. The report focused on assessing the condition of the exterior masonry construction of this century old church. Included in the report was a general review of the interior plaster work. A preliminary structural review and cost estimate for repair work was also completed. This was followed by the exterior restoration in 2000. The project involved the re-pointing of joints and replacing damaged bricks to Bell Tower and all elevations. New stone carvings were provided as well as repair and securing of statues. The stain glass windows were evaluated and frames repaired. Lightning protection was provided. Between 2003 and 2005, the congregation became actively involved in the interior restoration. The project involved the replacement of 100% of the ceiling plaster throughout the Church Sanctuary and Side Chapel. Repairs were made to all existing wall plaster cracks/damage throughout the entire Nave. Cracks were dovetailed in shape and patched with a textured plaster finish to match adjacent surfaces. The choir loft floor structure was reinforced and re-built . The loft was extended. Wood guardrails and trim were reworked and reused and additional trims were provided to match the original profiles. A new gypsum plaster board ceiling was provided with a one-coat plaster veneer finish throughout the Entrance Vestibule and painted. Structural reinforcing was provided to the Nave floor. The entire church was painted including decorative painting. Finally, in 2006, our firm assisted the congregation with the construction of a new 3,850 s.f. parish hall.
